The Solution
- Optimized Layout: The original basin overhung the bath, blocking the entrance area. We replaced it with a compact pedestal basin to create clear, unobstructed access to the new walk-in shower.
- Enhanced Comfort: We installed a comfort-height toilet. Being higher than standard models, it reduces strain and makes sitting and standing much easier.
- Smart Safety Adjustments: The original radiator was too wide, creating a burn risk near the toilet and blocking space for a necessary grab rail. We relocated the heating line and fitted a slimline towel warmer, maximizing space around the toilet and allowing proper safety rails to be installed.
To comply with UK regulations regarding structural joists, waste pipe routing often requires either a shower waste pump or a raised tray. After discussing the options, the client declined the waste pump system and chose a slightly elevated tray with a small step.
Accessibility Without the Clinical Look
For example, we replaced the existing flooring with a high-grade anti-slip safety floor. Instead of looking clinical, the flooring was carefully selected to complement the wall coverings, creating a cohesive, modern finish that is as safe as it is beautiful.
By choosing a 1800mm by 800mm shower tray—which is both longer and wider than the original bath, we perfectly covered the old footprint. This clever formatting meant we didn't have to repair or replace any of the existing flooring, saving the client money and mess. Project Timeline: This entire transformation took just 3 days from start to finish.

Video of the Mobility Shower Room
When we meet with clients, we don't just look at the plumbing; we discuss exactly how you use your bathroom. Our solutions are backed by years of hands-on experience and valuable feedback from occupational therapists.
When updating a bathroom for mobility and independence, you rarely need to renovate the entire room. In most cases, we can modify the bath area alone, leaving your existing toilet and basin exactly where they are. This targeted approach means the work is completed much faster, creates far less mess, and drastically reduces disruption to your daily routine."
