Creating a Safe, Stylish Mobility Bathroom in Warwick
Moving into a new home should be a time of comfort and excitement. However, for one of our recent clients who moved into a retirement property in Warwick, his occupational therapist quickly identified that the existing bathroom was unsafe and presented a real risk to his daily independence.

We met with the client and his adult children to discuss his specific needs, blending the occupational therapist’s professional recommendations with our expertise in accessible design. The goal was simple: to create a space where he could bathe safely and independently, while also accommodating the assistance of a carer.

Thoughtful Layout Changes for Independent & Assisted Bathing

To make the bathroom truly functional, we completely reimagined the layout with safety and comfort in mind.

The Clever Shower Reconfiguration

Originally, the shower head was on the end wall. We suggested moving it to the side wall, allowing a dedicated shower seat to be fitted securely on the end wall instead.

This simple but effective layout change means the client can walk in and immediately sit down safely. Furthermore, it allows a carer to stand comfortably at the opposite end of the shower to assist with washing, while staying completely dry and out of the water's path.

The Dual Safety Grab Pole Solution

For maximum stability, we introduced a unique dual-pole system within the low-level, anti-slip walk-in shower.

How it works: Much like the grab poles you find on a bus or tube train, this system allows the client to securely support himself using either or both hands as he moves through the space.

  • Pole 1 (The Opulence Safety Pole): Anchored securely to the shower tray, the glass screen, and the ceiling for absolute rigid support.

  • Pole 2 (The Thermostatic Riser Rail): A clever dual-purpose fixture. While it holds the adjustable shower head, the heavy-duty rail itself doubles as a certified grab pole capable of supporting up to 150kg.

Paired with a low-positioned shower head, this allows the client to easily control his own bathing while remaining safely seated.
The original bathroom had a large basin that physically blocked the installation of a proper walk-in shower. We replaced it with a sleek, smaller pedestal basin and added a comfort-height toilet. Both the new toilet and the shower seat are accompanied by securely wall-mounted grab rails, giving the client vital, sturdy support when transitioning from sitting to standing.

Featured Project: Low-Level Mobility Bathroom in Warwick The videoshowcases a recent transformation we completed in Warwick. We took a standard bathroom and redesigned it into a beautiful, highly accessible low-level mobility bathroom, balancing safety and ease of use with a modern, stylish finish. Take a look at the quality of our craftsmanship in action!

A Mobility Bathroom That Feels Like Home

Accessibility should never mean sacrificing style. The client was not a fan of standard plastic shower panels and wanted a look that matched the warm, premium feel of the rest of his home.

We installed elegant beige wall tiles paired with a high-grade, anti-slip floor. The result is a beautifully bright, high-end, and stylish walk-in shower room that provides total peace of mind without looking clinical.

Tiles or Shower Panels?

While a lot of mobility companies only install shower panels (mostly because they are easier to put up), we believe you shouldn't have to compromise on style. Our client wanted a classic, high-end finish, so we opted for stunning beige travertine effect tiles in the shower, perfectly paired with a matching anti-slip floor tile.

 Keeping Your Bathroom Pristine:

Some companies claim panels are "zero-maintenance," but let's be honest—both tiles and panels need a little love to stay looking their best. Soap scum and mold don't care what your walls are made of! To keep your mobility shower in top condition, we suggest a quick squeegee of the walls and tray after every use to send the water straight down the drain.
